February Runs?

So who's interested in doing something the last couple weekends in February? And maybe as much to the point of who knows what's passable in late Feb or wants to do some bashing and digging?

I've got two rigs I need to get out with. Was mulling Rainbow Falls or maybe the gulches or something else down low.

Ideas? Interest?

What's open is the big question. I know the FS has started closing trails in the winter, but I'd love to get out on a sunny day!

I live in the flatest freaking state in the country, and you folks are planning jeeping trips. Plan a trip to come jeeping down here. I can take you all to the mall.

I would suggest Shubarth Loop, or the Gulches. Both are great choices for late Winter. If you are in the mood for snow busting, just go up towards Waldorf mine. No cliffs to fall off of up there, and plenty of snow this time of year. Deb will recall that run. And Vic will hate you all for taking him on a snow run. Two wins!

I am just not a fan of leading a deep snow run. Hard work getting unstuck.
Never done, or heard of Shubarth Loop. Check spelling and clue me in :)

Wish you were here George

likely no snow, and a great scenic run. Snow would actually make it pretty fun. I doubt there will be snow down there though.

Great Scenic Trail. I have done this one a few times. Its a 3-4. So easy as you can get and still call it jeeping. Very scenic with a great overlook at the end of the air force academy.

All of the details are on traildamage. GPS etc.

https://www.traildamage.com/trails/index.php?id=155

It is also listed as trail 91 on page 210 of the Chuck Wells Funtreks book.

When I lead this run I would meet at the Hungry Bear Cafe in Woodland Park.

Stay on the main trail if you have more then say 4-5 rigs. Most of the side roads are very narrow. And would be very difficult to get 6+ rigs turned around on.

Couldn't find it because could not spell it correctly. Google Maps says it's 2 hours 15 minutes and hundred and thirty-three miles from home. Bummer

You want snow free runs in February you might have to drive a bit.

Just make a snow bashing run up on Guanella Pass. Lot closer, and tons more fun.

How about Gordon Gulch? Not sure if Kenneth is back until next weekend?
